The Feast of Christ the King is one of the most respected and cherished days in the Young Christian Students (YCS) Rwanda movement. It is a day when members from different Colleges/Schools come together to pray, to celebrate, and to strengthen the bonds of friendship and faith.

This year, the official date was 23rd November 2025, but because many of our base groups had important promises and activities on that day, we decided to celebrate one week later, on Sunday, 30th November 2025. Even though the date was different, the spirit of the celebration remained strong, and the joy of being together was felt by everyone.

🙏 Beginning with Holy Mass
The day started with the celebration of Holy Mass at St. Family Parish in the Archdiocese of Kigali. The Mass was a moment of deep prayer and thanksgiving. We reflected on the kingship of Christ, who calls us to live with humility, service, and love. The parish atmosphere was filled with songs, prayers, and the unity of young Christians who came together with one heart.

🍽 Fellowship at The Great Hotel, Kiyovu
After Mass, all attendees moved to The Great Hotel in Kiyovu, where the rest of the program took place. The hotel provided a warm and welcoming environment, perfect for fellowship and celebration.

The schedule of the day was simple but meaningful:
1. Arrival at the Hotel 🏨
After Holy Mass, members made their way to The Great Hotel in Kiyovu. This moment was important because it marked the transition from prayer to fellowship. Arriving together gave everyone a chance to settle in, greet one another, and prepare for the program ahead. It also showed the unity of YCS Rwanda members coming from different universities but gathering as one family.

2. Drinks Together 🥤
The first activity was sharing drinks. This may seem simple, but it created a relaxed atmosphere where conversations could start naturally. Holding a glass together symbolized friendship and hospitality, reminding us that fellowship is built not only on prayer but also on sharing everyday joys.

3. Personal Introductions 🙋♂️🙋♀️
Each attendee introduced themselves. This was more than just saying names—it was about building connections. Since members came from different universities, introductions helped everyone feel included and recognized. It strengthened the sense of belonging and reminded us that YCS Rwanda is a diverse but united movement.

4. Meal Together 🍽
Sharing a meal is always a highlight of any gathering. Eating together allowed members to continue conversations, laugh, and enjoy the company of friends. It was a moment of joy and togetherness, showing that YCS Rwanda is not only about spiritual growth but also about human connection.

5. President’s Speech 🎤
The YCS Rwanda President gave a heartfelt speech. He thanked everyone who contributed—spiritually through prayers, financially through support, and practically through the committee’s hard work. His words reminded us that every effort matters, and that the success of the day was the result of teamwork and dedication. The speech also encouraged members to continue supporting the movement in the future.

6. Taking Photos 📸
Photos were taken to capture the memories of the day. These pictures are more than just images—they are reminders of the joy, unity, and fellowship shared. They will serve as a record of the celebration and inspire future members to continue the tradition of celebrating Christ the King together.
7. Closing Prayer 🙏
The day ended with a prayer. This was a powerful way to conclude, as it brought everyone back to the spiritual foundation of the celebration. The prayer asked for God’s blessings on the movement, the studies of members, and their future plans. It reminded everyone that while the celebration was ending, the mission of living as witnesses of Christ continues.

🌍 Reflections on the Day
The celebration was more than just a program. It was a reminder that YCS Rwanda is a family built on faith, friendship, and service. Coming together from different universities showed the strength of our unity. The Feast of Christ the King is not only about honoring Christ’s kingship but also about renewing our commitment to live as His witnesses in our daily lives.
The day was filled with gratitude: gratitude for the gift of faith, gratitude for the movement that brings us together, and gratitude for each member who makes YCS Rwanda alive and active.

📸 Memories and Moving Forward
As we left The Great Hotel and returned to our homes, we carried with us the joy of the celebration. The photos taken will remind us of the smiles, the prayers, and the fellowship we shared. More importantly, the spirit of Christ the King will continue to guide us in our studies, our friendships, and our service to others.
The Feast of Christ the King remains one of the most important days in the YCS Rwanda calendar, and this year’s celebration was a true success. It showed that even when dates change, the meaning and the spirit of the day remain the same.
In the end, the celebration was not just about one day—it was about renewing our faith, strengthening our unity, and reminding ourselves that Christ is the King of our lives.
