The day was not just about formalities; it was a vibrant celebration of faith, unity, and commitment to the movement’s values.

The ceremony commenced at 10:00 AM with the celebration of Holy Mass, led by Father Augustin Ndagiriyimana, chaplain of JEC and Scouts in the Diocese. He was joined by several esteemed priests residing at the seminary, including Father Casmir, Father Eugène Niyigena—himself a YCS member responsible for the discipline of seminarians—and Father Mukurizehe Sébastien, the rector of the seminary.

Among the congregation were YCS members from various institutions, including:

  • TSS Bukure
  • E.S Sancta Maria Karambo
  • College Don Bosco Rushaki

  • Former YCS members who studied at Minor Seminary of Rwesero
  • Representatives from university-based YCS groups

A significant highlight of the Mass was the solemn moment when 30 new members made their promises, affirming their commitment to the movement and its guiding principles.

Following the Mass, the spirit of joy carried on through animation, where lively songs created a bond between the new members and their elder brothers and sisters. The celebration reached new heights thanks to the incredible energy brought by the girls from Bon Conceille, who added a dynamic touch to the event with their remarkable performances.

As the celebration moved to the Minor Seminary’s main group, the formal gathering began with a speech from Mr. Arsène Impuhwezayo, the YCS vice president, who stood in for Mr. Irène, the president, who was away for an inter-school volleyball tournament. Arsène welcomed all attendees, expressing gratitude to the visitors for honoring the invitation. He also extended appreciation to the YCS Rwanda national bureau for their unwavering support and commended the Minor Seminary YCS members for their efforts in making the event possible. Most importantly, he warmly welcomed the new members, reassuring them that they had made the right choice in joining YCS, where they would find guidance, encouragement, and lasting friendships.

The ceremony continued with various performances, including dances, modeling, and other artistic displays, further enriching the festive atmosphere.

The head of the YCS Rwanda National Bureau, Mr. Emmanuel Hakizimana, delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the fact that every YCS member—like all people—faces challenges. However, through YCS training and traditions, members can overcome obstacles and strengthen their faith and character.
As the event approached midday, all attendees gathered to share a delicious lunch, a moment of fellowship and gratitude.

In his speech, Father Augustin NDAGIRIYIMANA, chaplain of YCS in the Diocese, emphasized the importance of good manners, both in words and actions, as a defining characteristic of YCS members. He urged attendees to set an example for other youth by using respectful language and avoiding inappropriate words, even in celebratory songs. His message served as a powerful reminder that YCS members carry the responsibility of being positive role models.
As the day drew to a close, Father Eugène, a dedicated YCS member and the discipline overseer at Minor Seminary of Rwesero, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all groups and individuals who contributed to the success of the event. He particularly commended the new members, acknowledging their nine-day journey of preparation leading up to this significant moment.

Father Eugène urged them to use the strength gained through prayer to make the world a better place, leaving a meaningful impact wherever they go.
